CROCHET PATTERN

A close fitting balaclava pattern with a modified half double crochet stitch. The resulting fabric is dense, warm, and aesthetically similar to knit. Easily adjust the neck warmer portion in both length and width.

Child (Adult Small, Adult Medium, Adult Large).

*For best fit, choose a circumference approximately 1" {2.5cm} of actual head circumference (see size chart in photos).

 

CHILD: Finished hat circumference 19"/48cm

ADULT SMALL: Finished hat circumference 21"/53cm

ADULT MEDIUM: Finished hat circumference 22.5"/57.5cm

ADULT LARGE: Finished hat circumference 24.5"/62.5cm

 

HOOK

4mm hook (or hook size that achieves correct gauge) and a 3mm hook (or hook size 1mm smaller that the hook size used to achieve correct gauge).

 

YARN REQUIREMENTS

Approximately 220 (270, 325, 385) yards {200 (245, 295, 350) meters} of Worsted Weight (Category 4) yarn.

 

SAMPLE YARN

Custom-dyed 4-ply Worsted Weight (185yds/100g).
• Fiber Blend: Superwash Merino (80%), Cashmere (10%), Nylon (10%).
 

GAUGE

Main Gauge: 12.5 stitches & 20 rows per 4”{10cm}  in modified half double crochet (4mm hk).

Ribbing Gauge: 20 stitches & 17 rows per 4”{10cm} in single crochet in the back loop only (3mm hk
