The Automatic Weaving Arm AW-1 is an accessory manufactured by Silver Reed, and it is also compatible with machines under the Studio, Singer, and Knitmaster brand names. Its main function is to automate the weaving process by moving the weaving yarn from side to side across the knitting carriage, which eliminates the need for manual yarn placement. This high-speed transfer allows the machine to produce various textures and designs, including complex woven patterns, with the same ease as a simple knit stitch.

KNITTING
1) Place the Right and Left changeover cams outside the knitting needles.

2) Set a knitting yarn into the center yarn feeder, and through the bottom feeder
correctly.
Carriage setting for cast-on:
CAM LEVER..........................................................STOCKINETTE
RUSSEL LEVERS................................................ ❚❚
SIDE LEVERS........................................................ ⬤
Cast on over the needles arranged in B and D positions alternately.
To continue knitting in stockinet, set the Side Lever to ▼ mark on the Punch
Card knitting machines.
3) Set a punch card into the machine, and memorize the pattern.
Set the SIDE LEVERS to ▼.
4) Set the weaving yarn through the Auto-Tension, and guide it into the weaving yarn pathway in the arm.

NOTE: When setting the weaving yarn into the Arm, place it at the side beyond the knitting yarn in order to avoid crossing of those two yarns.
5) Move the Carriage to and fro to knit in weaving pattern.
The weaving yarn is shifted to the leading side of the Weaving Arm automatically
at the beginning of the next row.
* To have the side edges knitted neatly, bring the first knitting needle into D position before knitting the next row.
* If you should make a mistake in knitting or the weaving yarn is not changed over
to the leading side of the Arm correctly, move the Carriage out of the fabric and
push the CHANGE KNOB to the other end, and then move the Carriage toward
the end of the needle bed, the weaving yarn will be replaced to the leading side
of the Arm.
Shift the CHANGEOVER CAMS following the shaping of garment.
NOTE:
To prevent the yarn from snagging on the sinker posts at the fabric's edge, which can happen with wider knits or certain yarn types, you may need to install a spare set of changeover cams right beside the primary set.
