The Modified Half Double Crochet 2 Together (mhdc2tog), is a structural decrease that merges two stitches into one. The mechanics are identical to a standard decrease, with the exception of stitch placement: the hook is inserted between the vertical legs of the stitch rather than under the top loops.

Instructions:

1. Yarn over. Insert hook between the legs of the first stitch.

2. Yarn over and pull up a loop.

3. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops.

4. Yarn over. Insert hook between the legs of the next stitch.

5. Yarn over and pull up a loop.

6. Yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook.
