German Twisted Cast-On

The German Twisted Cast On, also known as the Old Norwegian Cast-On or the Elastic Long-Tail Cast-On, is a method used in knitting to create a stretchy and decorative edge. Unlike some other cast-on techniques, the German Twisted Cast On produces a firm yet elastic edge that is ideal for projects where flexibility is desired, such as socks, hats, or cuffs.

For the German Twisted Cast-On, it's recommended to leave a tail approximately 3-4 times the width of the final cast-on edge. This ensures there's enough yarn to work comfortably without running out prematurely.
