PATTERN NOTES

  • In order for your project to turn out the correct size, always achieve correct gauge before beginning.

  • Sizes are written in parenthesis as follows: XS (S/M, L/XL) or organized within a table. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. The sample in the photos is of a size S/M.

  • The poncho is worked from the top down, starting with the neck opening and then transitioning into the poncho body portion which is worked in the round.

  • The sample in the photos was made with Poppy Shop Merino Cashmere Worsted (80% Superwash Merino | 10% Cashmere | 10% Nylon | 213yards (195meters)/115g), in the colourways “Rustic Oak” (colour A) and “Spiced Rum” (colour B). Any suitable worsted weight yarn that meets gauge and has good drape may be substituted.

  • If you would like to use the two colour scheme shown in the sample photos, complete all bean stitch rounds in colour B.

  • Use the invisible join method when joining rounds for a less noticeable seam.

  • When working into the marked ch1's (chain 1's at each bottom peak), make sure to work into the chain itself and not underneath it.

  • If the number comes before the abbreviation, for example: 2hdc, this means stitch the given number into the same stitch. If the number is given afterward, for example: hdc2, this means to work the given number over subsequent stitches.

  • Chains are included in the final stitch counts (except for turning chains).

  • Fasten off and weave in all ends when you are finished.

  • Stitch and method tutorials are available for free at poppyshop.ca (just use the search feature).
